Dibekacin sulfate is a new aminoglycoside antibiotic which is effective for kanamycin resistant organisms, particularly Escherichia coil, Staphylococci and Pseudomonas groups.
Our clinical studies were performed on 34 patients who were admitted to Surgical Department of Severance Hospital from July 75 to March 76. They were all infected patients and they were given surgical treatment. Concomitantly, they were injected 100mg. of Dibekacin sulfate daily via intramuscular route.
The cultured organisms were as follow: 19 were E. coli, 5 were Staphylococci, 6 were Pseudomonas, 5 were Klebsiella, 6 were Enterococci and one was Bacteroides.
Among 34 patients, 21 were excellantly improved and 9 were moderately responded, but 4 patients were not improved.
So, 88% of the patients were controlled with Dibekacin sulfate administration. Two cases of side reaction developed during period of Dibekacin sulfate adminis¡þtration.
